About the Role:
This 100% onsite role serves as the Owner’s Safety Representative for Data Center (DC) construction. The primary responsibility is ensuring complete conformance to the Client’s EHS policies and local DC construction management site requirements. The role provides guidance, coaching, advising, and technical support to the site construction management team including partnerships with General Contractor management and field worker supervision. Typical site construction hours (M-F 6:30a-5:30p)
Work assignment locations may include but not limited to GA, SC, GA, IN, NC, VA, TN, OH, MI and TX. This person must have the ability to travel to multiple project locations on both short and long term assignments as needed.What You'll Do:
- Ensure adherence to Client EHS requirements, project Scope of Work (SOW), Contractor Safety Plans, and regulatory requirements through site safety walks and focused field audits.
- Advise contractors on corrective actions and engage project management to address non-compliance or non-conformance situations.
- Manage overall project EHS implementation, including the review and verification of EHS-related documents (CEHSP, Emergency Management Plan, RAMS, Safety Procedures). Evaluate the effectiveness of contractor hazard assessments (RAMS, JHAs, PTPs, etc.). Investigate, immediately report, and recommend preventative measures for all incidents, Near Misses, and occupational illnesses. Support the global construction EHS team on program development and execution.
- Communications, Data Reporting, and Verification: Deliver accurate and timely EHS performance data and critical EHS metrics (Leading/Lagging KPIs, incident data, trends) to DC construction management.
- Create, validate, and communicate lessons learned to the DC construction team and partners.
- Participate in all essential meetings (e.g., GC all hands, Safety Committee).
- Verify worker qualifications for compliance with training and procedural requirements via document verification and personal checks during field audits.
- Ability to travel to multiple project locations on both short and long term assignments as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience working on data center/mission-critical construction projects. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Preferred experience, minimum of 8-10 years on complex, large-scale construction sites with 500+ workers.
- In-depth knowledge of regulatory bodies, safety standards, rules, codes, and best practices for workplace safety and fire prevention, particularly concerning large-scale electrical, mechanical, trenching, and heavy equipment.
- Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention preferred.
- Must be a safety-minded professional capable of acting as an owner’s representative.
- Ability to guide the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information. Convey performance expectations and handle problems.
- Leadership skills to motivate team impact on quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the job discipline and department.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Extensive organizational skills with a strong inquisitive mindset.
- Advanced math skills. Ability to calculate difficult figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

Turner & Townsend carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for this position is $145,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $175,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on Turner & Townsend’s applicable benefit program. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
