Leading Technical Services teams across regions, responsible for all mechanical operations, maintenance, communications, energy management, and workforce development programs for a facility, campus, or portfolio of buildings.
 
Working alongside the regional IFM teams, delivering customer satisfaction, financial control, continuous improvement and the active promotion of a safe and sustainable environment.

Overseeing and integrating smart building technologies, ensuring advanced digital systems (such as IoT sensors, energy platforms, and cybersecurity measures) work together to optimize building performance. This approach enhances efficiency, safety, and sustainability, while protecting assets and data, supporting both operational goals and client satisfaction.

Interacting directly with the Client group daily on established and new requirements and being responsible to address outstanding issues and escalations.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
 
  • Provide formal supervision to employees. Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees. 
  • Coordinate and manage the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed. 
  • Manage operations and maintenance for assigned facilities. Develop operating and capital budgets. 
  • Recommend and implement improvements for preventive maintenance programs on an on-going basis. Create and maintain effective building-specific maintenance and safety procedure manuals. 
  • Oversee all building systems including fire/life safety, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical issues. Must remain current with latest technology trends. 
  • Develop and implement a smart building technology roadmap aligned with organizational goals, sustainability targets, and client requirements.
  • Oversee the deployment, integration, and ongoing optimization of smart building systems, ensuring inter-operability. Coordinate with vendors and contractors to select, install, and maintain advanced building technologies, ensuring compatibility and scalability.
  • Monitor and analyse building performance data from connected systems to identify opportunities for efficiency, cost savings, and sustainability improvements. Utilize analytics and AI tools for predictive maintenance, fault detection, and continuous commissioning to reduce downtime and optimize asset life cycles.
  • Ensure secure data collection, storage, and transmission across all smart building platforms, protecting client and organizational assets.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to communicate technology benefits, gather requirements, and drive adoption of smart building solutions.
  • Champion sustainability initiatives by leveraging smart technologies to reduce energy consumption, carbon footprint, and operational waste.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends in smart buildings, IoT, and cybersecurity, recommending upgrades and innovations as appropriate. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by regularly reviewing system performance, soliciting feedback, and implementing enhancements.
  • Maintain on-going communication with high profile tenants, clients, owners, facility management team and vendors. 
  • Drive the acquisition of new management contracts. Facilitate the development of as-built drawings. 
  • Respond to emergency situations (fire, evacuation, equipment failure etc.) and customer concerns. 
  • Apply a broad knowledge of the business, own discipline, and how own discipline integrates with others to achieve team and departmental objectives. 
  • Lead by example and model behaviours that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Influence others to adopt a different point of view while being guided by policies and departmental plans. 
  • Identify and solve technical and operational problems of complexity. 
  • Improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within job discipline. 

Essential Skills: 
 
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 5 - 8 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. 
  • Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred. 
  • Deep understanding of building automation systems. Familiarity with energy platforms, sustainability technologies, and strategies for optimizing energy consumption and reducing carbon footprint.
  • Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations and handle problems. 
  • Leadership skills to motivate the team to achieve broad operational targets with impacts on own job discipline, multiple job disciplines, and department. 
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. 
  • Extensive organizational skills and an advanced inquisitive mindset. 
  • Results oriented - ability to achieve business goals, with a concern for working well, surpassing standards of excellence and passion for challenges.
  • Customer focussed – develop strong customer relationships by listening to and satisfying customer needs
  • Drives accountability - ability to establish clear, measurable goals, taking ownership of responsibilities and commitments to those goals and moving others to responsibility for their goals.
  • Prepares and delivers clear performance expectations, performance reviews and development plans for direct reports.
