As a CBRE Health, Safety and Environment Manager, you will assist in the management of Environmental Health and Safety programs relative to a specific account or market area.
This job is part of the Environment Health and Safety function. They are responsible for organizational programs and procedures to safeguard employees and surrounding communities.
What You’ll Do:- Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of CBRE’s QHSE management systems across Canadian GWS Local accounts.
- Act as the primary QHSE subject matter expert for national operations, ensuring alignment with CBRE standards, client requirements, and Canadian regulatory frameworks.
- Promote a proactive safety culture focused on risk prevention, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with applicable federal, provincial, and territorial occupational health & safety legislation (including Ontario OHSA and other provincial equivalents).
- Develop, review, and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, safe work practices, and hazard assessments.
- Lead and support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims, with a strong focus on ON, BC, QC WSIB and other provincial boards as applicable.
- Coordinate claim reporting, case management, return-to-work programs, and stakeholder communications.
- Analyze claim trends, identify risk areas, and implement strategies to reduce injury frequency, severity, and associated costs.
- Partner with hard services teams (e.g., HVAC, electrical, mechanical, life safety, critical environments) to ensure safe execution of technical work.
- Support permit-to-work systems, lockout/tagout (LOTO), contractor safety, and high-risk activities common to facilities management operations.
- Conduct site audits, safety inspections, and compliance reviews across diverse facility types.
- Track, analyze, and report QHSE KPIs, incidents, audits, and corrective actions at a national level.
- Prepare reports and dashboards for senior leadership and clients as required.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support internal and external audits.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field, or 5-8 years of relevant experience.
- Demonstrated experience managing workers’ compensation and WSIB claims, including return-to-work programs.
- Strong understanding of Canadian OHS legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience supporting multi-site or national operations is highly desirable.
- Fully bilingual in English and French (spoken and written) is mandatory.
- Willingness to travel nationally as required.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
- Sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
