Business Intelligence Consultant

Role Summary

The Business Intelligence Consultant – Strategy, Enablement & Governance is responsible for ensuring that business intelligence is defined correctly, adopted consistently, governed effectively, and used to run the business.

This role owns the “why” and the “so what” of BI translating business objectives into clear KPI frameworks, operating cadences, and governance models that enable leaders to make decisions and drive execution. This role partners closely with BI Engineering & Data Foundations to ensure insights are trusted, actionable, and embedded into daily operations.

It is a strategic translator, orchestrator, and enabler of a repeatable management system.

Key Responsibilities

BI Strategy & Insight Definition

  • Translate business objectives into clear, actionable KPI frameworks aligned to leadership priorities
  • Define success measures, decision thresholds, and escalation paths
  • Ensure metrics answer meaningful business questions, not just reporting requests

Enablement & Adoption

  • Drive adoption of BI tools, dashboards, and insights across leadership and operational teams
  • Design and facilitate operating cadences (performance reviews, business reviews, huddles) that embed data into how the business runs
  • Build and maintain enablement hubs (e.g., SharePoint) with playbooks, definitions, and training resources

Governance & Standards

    • Metric definitions and alignment
    • Usage standards
    • Change control and decision rights
  • Partner with BI Engineering to validate requirements, confirm delivery meets intent, and enforce governance
  • Prevent metric drift, rework, and “whose number is right” debates

Stakeholder Partnership

  • Serve as the primary BI partner to leadership and key stakeholders
  • Lead structured requirements gathering and prioritization
  • Navigate ambiguity while maintaining alignment to strategy and standards

Continuous Improvement

  • Evaluate effectiveness of BI usage and decision-making
  • Identify gaps in adoption, understanding, or execution
  • Continuously refine frameworks, cadences, and governance models
