About the Role

As a CBRE Union Maintenance Technician - Roads and Grounds, you will be responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and repair of site roadways, parking areas, grounds, and related exterior infrastructure. This role supports year‑round operations with a strong emphasis on heavy equipment operation, preventative and corrective maintenance, and seasonal snow and ice management.

This position is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function and plays a critical role in maintaining safe, functional, and accessible exterior environments for site operations.

What You'll Do

  • Maintain site roads, parking lots, walkways, and surrounding grounds through preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
  • Operate heavy machinery and equipment including dump trucks, graders, skid steers, loaders, and related equipment.
  • Perform labor‑intensive tasks such as shoveling, sweeping, brush clearing, tree trimming, and debris removal.
  • Perform minor asphalt and concrete work, including patching and surface repairs as required.
  • Set up, relocate, and remove traffic control devices, barricades, and signage.
  • Conduct routine inspections of roads and grounds to identify damage, safety hazards, or maintenance needs and take appropriate action.
  • Support general site maintenance activities as assigned, including vac‑truck work and other specialty tasks.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed and equipment usage.
  • Adhere to all company safety policies, site procedures, environmental guidelines, and regulatory requirements.

Winter Operations Responsibilities

  • Operate snowplows, salt spreaders, and other snow removal equipment to clear roads, parking areas, and walkways.
  • Apply salt and de‑icing materials to prevent ice buildup and maintain safe conditions.
  • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of snow removal equipment and report maintenance issues.
  • Wash, clean, and maintain snow removal equipment after use.
  • Assist with loading and unloading of salt, brine, and other snow removal materials.
  • Respond to emergency weather‑related callouts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

General Responsibilities

  • Work independently or as part of a team to complete assignments efficiently and safely.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support overall site operations.

What You’ll Need

  • Valid CDL Class A or Class B license with Tanker Endorsement required.
  • Prior experience operating heavy equipment preferred.
  • Prior experience operating snow removal equipment preferred.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including shift work, nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call rotations as required.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining strong collaboration with the broader site team.
  • Willingness and ability to work in adverse weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and foot movements while operating equipment.
  • Ability to safely climb into, out of, and operate heavy machinery.

Working Conditions

  • Work is performed primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, snow, and ice.
  • Work areas include uneven surfaces, roadways, parking lots, and areas with steep grades.

Additional Requirements

  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
  • This position requires membership in, or willingness to join, Operating Engineers Local 324.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
