About this role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategically focused Global Senior Reliability Engineer with a paramount focus on cost efficiency and a proven track record in the GxP pharmaceutical environment. This role is crucial in optimizing the reliability, performance, and associated costs of our main building installations, critical utility systems, and facility infrastructure across our global footprint. The successful candidate will leverage deep expertise in Lean Six Sigma methodologies, process re-engineering, and advanced data analytics, with strong proficiency in SAP, to identify and mitigate reliability risks, significantly reduce operational expenditures, and ensure sustained compliance with stringent GxP regulations. This is a strategic role requiring a minimum of 10-15 years of relevant experience in a complex, global pharmaceutical setting, with a specific emphasis on facilities and critical building systems.

What you’ll do

  • Cost-Efficient Reliability Strategy for Building Installations: Develop, implement, and lead global reliability strategies specifically for main building installations, critical utilities (e.g., HVAC, WFI, clean steam, compressed air, electrical distribution), and other facility infrastructure. Drive initiatives to achieve substantial cost savings by optimizing maintenance practices, reducing energy consumption, and minimizing unexpected repairs and associated downtime costs. This includes rigorous tracking of maintenance costs for building systems to identify and reduce inefficiencies.
  • Process Re-engineering & Continuous Cost Improvement: Lead process re-engineering initiatives focused on enhancing the reliability and cost-efficiency of facility operations and maintenance workflows. This involves reviewing and updating maintenance strategies for building systems using methodologies like RCM/FMEA and re-engineering preventive and predictive maintenance programs for technical accuracy, effectiveness, and cost optimization. Drive continuous improvement through Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for facility-related issues, aiming to eliminate repetitive failures and address problems affecting regulatory compliance and operational costs.

  • Lean Six Sigma & Data-Driven Cost Reduction: Apply Lean Six Sigma methodologies (Green Belt or Black Belt certification highly preferred) to identify root causes of failures in building installations, minimize operational variability, and optimize facility-related processes for cost efficiency. Utilize advanced data analysis techniques, including statistical process control, reliability modelling, and Weibull analysis, to monitor building system performance, predict failures, and inform strategic decisions that drive cost reductions.

  • GxP Compliance & Risk Management for Facilities: Ensure all reliability engineering activities related to building installations and critical utilities strictly comply with GxP standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., cGMP, GLP, FDA, EU). Develop and manage risk mitigation plans to anticipate and address reliability-related risks that could impact facility operations, product quality, and regulatory standing.

  • SAP & Data-Oriented Maintenance Optimization: Leverage SAP (specifically the PM module) and other Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for comprehensive asset master data management, maintenance planning, and tracking of reliability KPIs specifically for building installations. Utilize data from these systems to analyse trends, optimize spare parts inventory for cost-effectiveness, and drive insights for continuous cost and reliability improvements.

  • Global Collaboration & Support for Building Systems: Provide expert technical support and guidance to global facility, maintenance, and engineering teams regarding the reliability and cost-effective operation of main building installations and utility systems. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to integrate best practices into all aspects of facility operations and maintenance.

What you’ll need

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Facilities, Industrial, or related field). Master's degree is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10-15 years of progressive experience in Reliability Engineering, with a significant portion focused on facilities, critical utility systems, and main building installations within the GxP pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

  • Technical Expertise:

Demonstrated expertise in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or Black Belt certification highly preferred) and its application to cost reduction.

Extensive experience with reliability tools and methodologies such as FMEA, RCM, RCA, Weibull Analysis, Statistical Process Control, and predictive maintenance techniques, particularly as applied to building systems.

Strong proficiency in SAP (PM module) and other CMMS for asset management, maintenance planning, and data analysis of facility assets.

Proven ability to interpret and utilize complex data sets to drive reliability improvements and significant cost reductions for facility operations.

Thorough understanding of GxP regulations (cGMP, GLP) and their specific application to pharmaceutical facilities and utility systems.

Strong understanding of building systems including life-safety, lighting, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and critical utility systems such as WFI, clean steam, compressed gas, and vacuum.

  • Soft Skills:

Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with a strong data-driven approach to cost efficiency.

Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels in a global organization.

Demonstrated ability to lead and drive change in a complex, multi-site facility environment.

Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities with a focus on delivering financial results.

  • Travel: Ability to travel internationally up to 30% to support global sites and facility projects.
