About the Role:
CBRE is maturing its enterprise data governance capabilities and expanding Master Data Management (MDM) across priority domains such as Property, and Client. We are seeking a Senior Manager of Data Stewardship to establish and lead an enterprise data stewardship program, ensuring business ownership, consistency, and accountability for master data across the organization. This role will focus initially on supporting MDM implementation and scaling stewardship practices across business units and data consumers.
As a CBRE Senior Manager - Data Stewardship, you will play a central role in defining, implementing, and operationalizing data stewardship for CBRE’s critical data domains. This role will build the stewardship program framework, coordinate domain stewards, drive standardization of business definitions, and support decision-making for master data. It balances program structure with practical execution, enabling successful MDM delivery while building long-term governance capability. The position will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, technology teams, and data governance leadership.
This position is based in Richardson, TX, and operates under a hybrid work model. Employees are expected to work from the CBRE Richardson office two days per week. Minimal occasional travel may be required.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop and implement enterprise data stewardship, encompassing the definition of roles, responsibilities, engagement models, and accountability structures, particularly for Property, Client, and Asset master data domains.
- Establish and refine processes for data definition, ownership, approval workflows, documentation, and coordinate decision-making for data standards, business definitions, and terminology alignment.
- Contribute to Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives by partnering with leadership on domain prioritization and governance readiness, supporting activities like survivorship logic, golden record validation, and data harmonization.
- Coordinate the onboarding of data producers and consumers into master data flows and facilitate the resolution of data conflicts, duplicates, and definition mismatches.
- Champion data quality accountability by aligning business stewardship with data quality rules and thresholds, ensuring business stewards own remediation decisions and acceptance criteria, and supporting root-cause analysis coordination.
- Drive adoption and business engagement by recruiting, orienting, and enabling data stewards across various business units and functions.
- Create essential communication, training, playbooks, and onboarding materials to promote consistent stewardship behaviors and reinforce the operating model discipline.
- Monitor and report on participation, maturity progress, and effectiveness metrics for data stewardship.
- Collaborate extensively with a wide range of stakeholders, including business data owners, domain data stewards, operational data contributors and consumers, subject matter experts, MDM program teams, Data Governance leadership, Data Architecture, Data Quality teams (e.g., Soda, SuperZoom), Data Platform engineering teams (e.g., Snowflake), Collibra enablement teams, and security, privacy, and compliance functions.
- Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values, persuading managers and other colleagues to take action while being guided by the organization’s functional business plans.
What You’ll Need:
To perform this job successfully, an individual will need to perform each crucial duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
- Bachelor's Degree preferred with 8-12 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.
- Proven success operating in large, complex enterprise environments with extensive data ecosystems and geographically dispersed teams.
- Strong working knowledge of data governance and data stewardship practices, including experience in Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to define clear business terms, establish data standards, identify critical data elements, and facilitate cross-functional alignment and decision governance.
- Familiarity with data quality tools (e.g., Soda, SuperZoom) or similar solutions, and understanding of data validation techniques, exception handling strategies, and remediation models.
- Exceptional communication, facilitation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, including the ability to influence without direct authority and effectively communicate complex data and reporting to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex business documents, fostering customer trust and confidence.
