About the Role

The Senior Building Engineer, Utilities supports a pharmaceutical client by performing advanced preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC systems across the facility. Working under general direction, you’ll oversee building system operations, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure reliable performance of critical equipment and controls.

This role requires specialized on site expertise and operates on 12 hour shifts within a 2 2 3 schedule.

What You’ll Do

  • Operates, maintains, monitors, and performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on building equipment, which may include: mechanical/HVAC/plumbing systems, electrical/cabling, fire detection and suppression, life safety, lighting, temperature control systems, building management systems, and digital systems.
  • Maintains the professional appearances of the property, equipment, engineering spaces, and common areas.
  • Maintains adequate supplies and tools and orders necessary materials to complete all tasks.
  • Ensures measures are taken to operate all systems in the most efficient manner to keep operating costs at a minimum.
  • Coordinates and inspects the work performed by outside contractors. Contracted work may include landscaping, snow removal, remodeling, HVAC, plumbing, and cleaning.
  • Carries out tasks following established procedures and maintenance instructions.
  • Performs niche and sophisticated tasks such as carpentry, electrical, painting, roofing, HVAC, pipe-fitting, and works with lock out/tag out. Performs inspection of building systems including HVAC, hydronic, plumbing, and electrical.
What You’ll Need

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 5-8 years of job-related experience. In lieu of a diploma, a combination of experience and education will be considered. Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred. Universal CFC certification required.
  • Additional certification in one or more of the following: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, process controls, mechanical power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry or engine repair.
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
  • Ability to solve unique problems using standard and innovative solutions having a broad impact on the business.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Expert organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Highly sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate somewhat complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.
