About the Role:
The Assistant Manager HSE supports the APAC QHSE Lead in implementing and maintaining effective health, safety, and environmental management systems across client locations, ensuring compliance with legal and corporate requirements and promoting a positive safety culture.
What You’ll Do:
- Support the APAC QHSE Lead in the development, implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the client’s H&S management system and strategy.
- Manage HSE programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and needs of client accounts.
- Execute plans, playbooks, and procedures for the assigned account or market area.
- Provide competent technical advice on workplace safety and health matters in accordance with Singapore WSH legislation.
- Fulfil statutory duties as a Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) where required.
- Act as Fire Safety Manager (FSM) for designated premises, including fire drills, inspections, and emergency preparedness.
- Develop and maintain the Fire Emergency Plan and emergency response procedures.
- Coordinate risk assessments, emergency drills, and safety training programmes.
- Ensure compliance with MOM and SCDF audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
What You’ll Need:
- MOM-Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) or eligible for registration.
- Valid Fire Safety Manager (FSM) certification issued by SCDF.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Safety, Environmental Science, or related discipline (preferred).
- NEBOSH International Diploma or equivalent (advantageous).
- Demonstrated hands-on experience performing WSHO and FSM-related duties.
- Experience engaging with regulators and managing compliance audits.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Minimum four years of HSE related experience.
Fundamental knowledge of federal, state and local health and safety, and environmental regulations preferred. Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and / or compliance officers is beneficial.
CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES
As required by local authority (if required).

Ability to comprehend and interpret instructions, short correspondence, and memos and ask clarifying questions to ensure understanding. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, co-workers, and/or supervisor. Ability to effectively present information to an internal department and/or large groups of employees.
FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE
Requires basic knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to understand and carry out general instructions in standard situations. Ability to solve problems in standard situations. Requires basic analytical skills.

Ability to follow detailed instructions and work with a sense of urgency.
