About the Role:

Lead the way in facilities excellence as a Chief Building Reliability Engineer at CBRE! You'll join a skilled team of technicians and mechanics, driving high-performance maintenance operations across a dynamic commercial property. If you're a hands-on technical specialist with a passion for mentoring, innovation, and operational impact—this is your opportunity to shine.  The primary responsibilities include designing and developing methods to improve and maintain the reliability of our systems and processes.  You should have a strong understanding of reliability engineering and statistical analysis, as well as a thorough knowledge of maintenance management and manufacturing processes.  The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for identifying potential issues and the ability to develop and implement effective solutions to ensure the optimal performance and longevity of our systems and processes.

This job is part of the Engineering and Technical Services job function. They are responsible for providing support, preventive maintenance, and repairs on equipment and systems.

What You’ll Do:

  • Participate in the creation of policies and procedures for inspection, maintenance, and repair methods
  • Ensure that the mechanics and technicians have the proper information and materials about assignments to complete work activities in a high-quality and timely fashion.
  • Develop material and labor cost estimates for work orders, preventative maintenance activities, systems, and construction projects.
  • Analyze the failure modes of equipment and systems to prevent failures and downtime
  • Use statistical analysis to predict system reliability and risk of failure
  • Work closely with other engineers and professionals in the design process to ensure reliability and durability of new projects
  • Test and analyze parts and equipment to determine the cause of malfunctions and failures
  • Document and communicate reliability analysis and testing results
  • Design system upgrades for improved reliability and performance
  • Provide training and support to maintenance personnel
  • Provide guidance for design and maintenance activities with reliability-centered maintenance tools
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation related to system reliability
  • Mentor others to develop in-depth knowledge and expertise in most or all areas within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values. Anticipates potential objections and persuades others, often at senior levels and of divergent interest, to adopt a different point of view.
  • Impact the achievement of customer, operational, project, or service objectives across multi-discipline teams. Work is guided by functional policies which impact the design of procedures and policies.
  • Contribute to new products, processes, standards, and/or operational plans in support of achieving functional goals.

What You’ll Need:

  • CRE preferred
  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma or equivalent experience with 5-8 years of job-related experience.
  • Strong knowledge of reliability engineering and statistical analysis
  • Experience with reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) tools and techniques
  • Meet the physical requirements of this role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs/ladders, and the ability to lift/carry heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • The innovative mentality to develop methods that go beyond existing solutions.
  • Microsoft Office products Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and managing work orders through a CMMS.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Chief Building Engineer - Reliability Engineer position is $50 per hour and the maximum salary for the Chief Building Engineer - Reliability Engineer position is $60 per hour. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
