RESPONSIBILITIES  

Provide compelling research and analysis for our industry-leading thought leadership efforts in the Seattle and Portland commercial real estate markets. As a client-facing thought leader, this role will help communicate our views on commercial real estate, demographic, economic, and industry trends through presentations, whitepapers, and other content. Supports new business development initiatives. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

Responsible for collecting, analyzing and creating content of actionable, commercial insights for use in presentations, whitepapers and other outputs that positions CBRE as the dominant voice in the industry and market. 
Be a trusted advisor for the market leader(s) and top brokers.
Serve as the liaison between the local market and the national perspective.
Provide content and, with guidance from leadership, may serve as the public face of CBRE’s perspectives on property and market dynamics in a specific sector or geography.
Create perspectives that drive new conversations with clients.
Must be responsive to multiple internal and external constituencies—sales professionals, management, media, real estate associations, clients—by providing relevant insights on market conditions and trends.
Responds to ad hoc internal and external client requests for data analysis, graphs, commentary, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Attend applicable industry conferences, broker meetings, client meetings, etc.
No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance, and/or training to co-workers. May coordinate and assign tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

Leads project teams and/or plans, and supervises assignments of lower level employees. May have responsibility for identifying training needs, tracking performance, coaching, and motivating a work unit and/or group.

QUALIFICATIONS  

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE  
Education and Experience
BA/BS from a four-year college or university in economics, finance, business administration or related field of study. Masters preferred. Minimum 6-8 years of related experience.
Minimum 4 years of commercial real estate experience. Local market/sector knowledge/experience required.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES  

None.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS  
Strong communication skills. Ability, both in written and verbal, to confidently speak to senior professionals in the company, clients and third-parties and communicate objectives in a clear and effective fashion.
Must have strong presentation skills for speaking engagements & client presentations.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE  
Requires in-depth knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate complex figures. Conducts financial/business analysis including the preparation of reports.

REASONING ABILITY  
Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents. Ability to solve problems involving several options in complex situations. Requires Expert level analytical and quantitative skills. Teacher and student of cognitive thought process. Ability to stay calm and professional under pressure.
Must have a commercial mindset. Able to identify trends and think about the market in innovative ways. Can translate ideas into thoughtful deliverables that differentiate CBRE, our professionals and our products.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES  
Ability to work as a team player in a matrixed environment. Can navigate the dynamics of a large company, with a centralized Research function, while also understanding how to support/align global, national and local initiatives.
Strong technical skills with a proficiency Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and amenable to learning new technologies and systems related to data collection, extraction and tracking.
An expert understanding of Research fundamentals and methodologies. Knowledge of how to apply research and data analytics expertise to the benefit our brand and core businesses.
Must have strong project management skill set. Can oversee multiple large & complex projects, determine priorities and develop a through-line to completion, including harnessing the right resources and collaborating along the way.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY  

Works under minimal supervision to complete difficult or complex assignments. Acts independently to complete new assignments, determining appropriate methods for achieving desired outcomes. Confers with supervisor on unusual circumstances. Decisions made with general understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.
