A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Senior Legal Counsel to join CBRE  - a Fortune 500 company, ranking #122 which provides a diverse array of consulting and real estate services to the world’s largest banks, corporates, internet providers, hospitals, museums and household names.  The role would suit someone looking to make the transition from private practice, or an experienced in house counsel looking for a step up. Senior Legal Counsel would report directly to Global Head of Legal (DCS/LFM), and engage on a regular basis with business leaders. 

The business is in a growth phase and looks to its legal team to be its first point of contact with a wide range of issues including contracts negotiation, M&A, financing, compliance and disputes. The candidate should bring an analytical, commercial and can-do attitude, but need not have intimate knowledge of all areas of law, as the firm has global legal resource with various specialisms e.g. Litigation, data privacy, compliance company secretarial etc. 

The firm has a positive entrepreneurial culture, and supports hybrid working with 2 days per week in the London office. The Global Head of Legal is keen to support career development of Senior Legal Counsel and promote appropriate access to training, skills development and networking opportunities.

- Reporting directly to Global Head of Legal for Data Centre business and Local Facilities Management business with broad range of transactional and disputes work
- Give legal advice orally and in writing to executives, managers and other employees
- Review, negotiate and draft contracts and transactional documentation related to facilities management, project management, and consulting services
- Support busy M&A strategy with sensible advice on business risk, SPAs and financing
- Assist with contentious or compliance issues as they arise, including incidents across the business, working towards practical solutions, settlement or dispute strategy where appropriate
- Work with the wider business to improve precedents and protocols to manage legal risk efficiently, and produce bulletins to alert the business of important developments in the law
- Close engagement with the commercial team who lead negotiations, including development and delivery of training on areas of key interest
- Provide flexible support to assist the business as it grows and expands into new business lines, including navigating new regulation relevant to different service lines or jurisdictions

Person Specification
- Solicitor qualified in England and Wales
- 3-6 years of private practice and/or in-house experience
- Strong experience to independently negotiate complex contracts and transactions, with a preference to professionals who have experience with commercial contracts and corporate outsourcing (real estate, facilities management, or IP) or similar services, mergers and acquisitions
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, communication, problem-solving and drafting skills
- Confidence to give advice to senior executives, and to escalate issues appropriately to supervisors and business decision makers
- Ability to isolate complex legal issues and provide prompt, concise and commercially focused legal advice, while balancing risks and benefits to the Company
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and set priorities with excellent follow-up skills and organization
- Willingness to work on tight timeframes, including occasionally accommodating different time zones on global transactions
- Ability to develop solid relationships with clients and establish productive working relationships with opposing counsel
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a cooperative effort with the overall legal team and Global Workplace Solutions business
- IT fluency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
