Purpose of Job

To be a part of our existing ICT Data Centre shift team providing support 24x7, 365 days a year, working on a rotating shift pattern providing general day to day support involving (but not limited to) incident ticket requests, planned work activities, clerical data inputting and reporting, preparing tools, equipment and documentation ready for implementation [all planned works are carried out during the evening or weekends].

Key Responsibilities

  • To provide ICT support within any Client site within the initial EMEA portfolio 
  • Carry out racking/stacking, patching, break fix tasks, decommissioning, infrastructure installations, cabinet modifications and hardware tasks as per relevant procedure documents.
  • Collate together items required for forth coming night/weekend planned work requests including but not limited to hardware, materials, print host & wrap round labels, patch cords, fixings and documentation.
  • Ensure stock levels are within set thresholds and report when materials are required.
  • Ensure that all relevant site rules, standards, processes and procedures are read, understood, followed and reviewed annually or when there is a version update.
  • Make sure all work completed is carried out to the accepted and expected site standards 
  • Always promote a positive image of the company.
  • Follow the escalation procedure if any incidents occur which could or would affect safety or operational service within the Client sites
  • Ensure that current health and safety requirements are met and that any concerns or incidents are reported.  Document any accidents that occur in the site accident book.
  • Ensure that e-mails and ticket queues are managed/responded to within the agreed SLA and actioned.
  • Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Ensure TCM’s and e-permits are in place and have relevant approval prior to carrying out the associated task, escalate if any discrepancies arise.
  • Focus on housekeeping and energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Ensure that the ICT team are advised of any hardware discrepancies that are found within the data racks.
  • To perform any other reasonable duties delegated your line Manager.
  • Physically able to lift boxes/devices and install then into suitable cabinets.
  • Report any hazards and ensure they are resolved.
  • Must be flexible and prepared to travel to other customer sites to provide operational support.
  • Required to partake in site related OT (Over Time) in line with other team members in order to help facilitate customer site related Planned works, Project works, Audits, Break-fix works
  • Must be flexible and provide short notice emergency site/shift support coverage when required to enable to continued support of the site


  • Directly accountable to the ICT Service Delivery Manager (SDM)
  • The post holder has no direct reports.
  • This post carries no direct budgetary responsibility, but financial awareness is required when replacing parts, using consumables.


  • Minimum of 24 months ICT data centre proven experience.
  • Proven experience of data cabling including installation, patching, termination and testing.
  • Proven experience of computer hardware installation and knowledge around it’s functionality.
  • Willing to adapt and learn new skills. 
  • Full UK driving licence and to have their own method of transportation.
  • Industry recognised data centre certifications.
