JOB ROLE: PM ESG DIRECTOR

LOCATION: LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM

Role Purpose:

CBRE Data Centre Solutions (DCS) delivers fully integrated real estate, facilities and technology solutions for data centre owners, occupiers and investors across the globe. As a dedicated business line within CBRE, DCS is dedicated to solving complex challenges within every stage of the data centre lifecycle. We are recruiting this role to join the team located in either America or London and will be responsible for supporting clients to forms plans to meet with their corporate objectives and in meeting evolving legislation and best practice.  This would include delivering and validating energy, carbon and cost reductions. Identify and implement energy efficiency measures, low and zero carbon solutions and operational best practices.  In achieving the above, the role will be self-funding and/or revenue generating by selling services and products to DCS customers

The purpose of this role is:

·       Development and implementation of a Sustainability and Environmental Management Plan (SEMP), including legal compliance, risk management, statutory and internal reporting of energy efficiency, water use, waste and recycling and sustainable procurement for the division and reporting it back to the Sustainability Director

·       Ensuring that all activities under our operational control are conducted and operated in accordance with relevant environmental legislation and/or guidelines

·       Manage works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to deliver industry leading sustainability

·       Establish and implement best practice processes, procedures, templates, specifications and guidelines for all project types and frameworks for the measurement and verification of energy, water and waste efficiency projects.

·       Collaborate with sustainability team members to align outcomes with our sustainability strategy and facilitate sustainability engagement and training for internal and external stakeholders.

·       To provide support to Sales Director and Projects Director in client pursuits and develop materials to enhance our offering to clients

·       To act as the trusted advisor to DCS customers and support creation of end to end strategies that meet their ESG corporate goals and objectives and respond to changing legislation and best practice

·       Assist in the delivery or implementation of the various strategies within the ESG spectrum which may include:

Environment:

o   Ensure the effective management of energy resources to meet client’s objectives and targets.

o   To identify, develop and implement new energy related opportunities

o   Carry out all energy related tasks to ensure service provision and compliance

o   To motivate and train people in energy management

o   Assist clients to measure, monitor and report on energy consumption and carbon emissions

o   Define sustainability and governance reporting processes

o   Develop and capture and share best practices across the division/BU

Social:

o   Create social value strategies aligned to business and client needs

o   Work with the supply chain managers to promote sustainability and social value across the division

o   Hold events for both internal and external stakeholders

Governance:

o   Maintain a thorough understanding of corporate sustainability and governance, legal, statutory and technical issues which affect both client and CBRE

o   Understand policies of national and local government level in the area of environmental impact and climate change

o   Stay up to date and share sustainability updates within new products and services

o   Keep abreast of Energy Market developments and changes, ensuring that the client comply with all Energy related Legislation

Primary Objectives and Tasks

·       Assist clients to measure, monitor and report on ESG

·       Develop and advise on ESG strategy/solutions, developing these into working projects, which meet client objectives and best practice

·       Be the client facing SME to help drive the DCS ESG agenda within our business with our clients.

·       Deliver on these opportunities through managing installations & behavioral changes

·       Assist clients to meet their increasingly challenging compliance requirements

·       To be able to normalize and verify savings post implementation

·       Project management and implementation of initiatives.

·       Engagement with the DCS Project Teams to ensure alignment on Potential ESG Projects on the Data Center Portfolio.

·       Ensure clients benefit from emerging opportunities, innovation and technology

·       Develop and advise on energy strategy/solutions, developing these into working projects, which meet client objectives and best practice

·       Identify opportunities to reduce carbon emissions within clients’ property portfolios

·       Calculate potential savings in terms of kWh, CO2 and cost

·       Calculate potential PUE and WUE savings from a data center operation perspective.

·       Deliver on these opportunities through managing installations & behavioral changes

·       To be able to normalize and verify savings post implementation

·       Assist clients to meet their increasingly challenging compliance requirements

·       Support wider energy management objectives, for example through energy procurement

·       Provide full feasibility studies of costed initiatives / projects to reduce energy usage.

·       Project management and implementation of initiatives.

·       Work with and support the Head of Projects, ensuring that projects are as energy efficient as is financially possible.

·       Provide monitoring and verification through the full cycle of the project to achieve cost and energy efficient solutions.

·       Ensure clients benefit from emerging opportunities, innovation and technology

·       Support clients’ wider sustainability and corporate social responsibility objectives

·       Train Energy Engineers and manage their activity, ensuring their expedient use

Core Competencies

·       Extensive working knowledge of energy and sustainability, governance including engineering or building services

·       Extensive knowledge of the principle techniques and technologies which support energy and sustainability

·       Competency in current benchmark techniques and statistical analysis

·       Capable of preparing fully costed ESG proposals and reports

·       Ability to carry out full energy surveys and feasibility studies of energy technologies

·       Ability to support the formation of client plans to achieve carbon neutrality or net zero

·       Extensive working knowledge of Trend BMS and control theory.

·       Understand the principles behind HVAC, refrigeration and Lighting operation and system design / integration

·       Preference for Data Centre Sector experience or minimum critical environment experience.

Skills and Education Required

Qualifications   

·       Degree ideally in energy and sustainability, engineering or building services

·       Specific energy efficiency / low carbon qualifications are desirable

·       Qualified to undertake Air Conditioning Inspections

·       Relevant professional membership e.g. CIBSE, Energy Institute

Project Management

·       Project management skills, with ability to manage multiple complex work-streams and clients, ability to manage budgets

·       Delivers work efficiently and to time

Experience       

·       Experience in energy efficiency and wider sustainable energy is required

·       Experience of energy management, including energy procurement and compliance would be beneficial

·       Extensive knowledge of the principle techniques and technologies which support the efficient use of energy

Technical Skills

·       Ability to interpret energy data and use as a basis for reduction strategies

·       Knowledge of Low and zero carbon technologies

·       Knowledge on Data Center Design – Tier 1,2,3

·       Knowledge of Data Center Redundancy and Resilience

Communication

·       Exceptional report writing skills with ability to communicate technical issues effectively

·       Strong verbal communication skills

·       Demonstrable ability to instill confidence in clients

·       Ability to research, analyze and form conclusions on complex issues

·       Presents compelling arguments to support clients’ decision making
