Individuals in this role support with the production of high quality geographic and demographic materials that would be leveraged for marketing and market analysis purposes.
This role is learning Geographic Information Systems (GIS) fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures and assists other GIS staff within the commercial real estate industry. Learning to work with large data sets for analysis of geospatial information, with manager direction and review. May specialize in the Spatial Data space. In this niche, the individual assists other GIS professionals to implement best practices for spatial data management which includes metadata standards, data storage and management, data update strategies and quality assurance (QA)/quality control (QC) policies.


Supports with the production of map-based deliverables leveraging ESRI suite, focusing both of paper/static maps and dynamic web maps and apps to produce best-in-class aesthetic deliverables.
Obtains and maintains accurate market data (e.g. existing and proposed locations of office buildings, shopping centres, retailers, etc.); and takes initiative to research new data on a consistent basis. Helps to perform quality assurance and routine diagnostics on data and databases.
Extracts, formats, and transforms demographic and location related data from various databases for use with mapping services. May use protocols to identify problems with datasets and routine extraction processes, rectify issues, and systematize processes for future work.
Helps to maintain a library of commonly used maps and deliverables for dedicated regions.
Responsible for keeping up to date with continuing internal training and educational assignments geared towards advanced GIS analysis.
Supports other GIS professionals to brainstorm, create, and think through the best client outcomes.
May maintain, update, and interact with databases containing geospatial data for commercial real estate analysis.
May archive, catalog and annotate datasets according to department standards to build a common library of materials for use by GIS team.
May assist other GIS professionals to determine the definitions of fields of extraction and the organization and storage of input data.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university with a major or minor in Geography or related field; or Associates Degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school, with training in GIS technology. 
At least 1 year of experience working with GIS Technology is required.
Relevant experience integrating enterprise databases with GIS technology is also preferred.
Basic programming knowledge preferred and basic knowledge of working with 3D data is also preferred.

Proficiency in ArcGIS Suite, word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation applications required.
Ability to interpret data, graphical representations and symbols while having an eye for layout and design, good spatial awareness and colour vision. 
Knowledge of GIS terms and definitions required.
Knowledge of CRE preferred and the ability to work with mathematical concepts and apply operations such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations is preferred.
