JOB SUMMARY

The purpose of this position is to implement and manage FLS (Fire & Life Safety) programs relative to a large national/international corporate account or market area.

Characteristics of responsible programs:

Account Square Footage Size: > 5 million Vendor/Contract Relations: 100+Ees

     ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages FLS programs and initiatives to meet regulatory requirements and FLS needs of a client account. Evaluates new and existing programs to assess suitability and the need for changes.

Monitors fire incidents in the specified region for the account.  Monitors performance for trends or other indicators of improving or degrading incident performance and develops and implements strategic solutions that will improve the performance results as required.

Manages, develops and implements FLS programs and initiatives to meet regulatory 

requirements and FLS needs of the client account.

Oversees, creates, and modifies necessary, FLS plans, playbooks, and procedures for the account, market area, or assigned area of responsibility. Ensures information is current, complete and effectively implemented.

Monitors  FLS regulatory compliance within the account, market area, or assigned area of responsibility. Communicates all findings, concerns, and deficiencies to the responsible managers to effect timely and necessary corrections. Assist in the development and implementation of strategic solutions that will support management's efforts to improve and maintain compliance as required.

Assists in identifying in opportunities to reduce costs while enhancing quality of services for client/account.

Promotes fire and life safety consciousness among employees by providing accurate and informative data, conducting safety meetings, giving timely feedback, on safety suggestions and visibly supporting the safety program(s).

Acts as a resource to staff and employees as an  FLS subject matter expert. Other duties may be assigned.

   SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

May provide formal supervision to individual employees within single functional or operational area.. Leads by example and models behaviors that are consistent with the company's values.


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Associate's Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred,

(BA/BS) in  fire safety management, safety sciences or related technical degrees.  .

4-6 years of experience in electronics, fire safety, or other related specialty.

Minimum of five years of experience in supervision and administration of fire prevention programs

Demonstrated knowledge of national, federal, state and local fire and life safety regulations is essential. Direct experience dealing with regulatory agencies and / or compliance officers is preferred.

Experience working in, construction, and / or facility maintenance and management is preferred.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

State Board Fire Sprinkler Contractor

NICET Level III Fire Alarm Systems

NICET Level II Inspection and Testing of Fire Alarm Systems

NICET Level II Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers. Ability to effectively present information.

Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Requires knowledge of financial terms and principles. Ability to calculate intermediate figures such as percentages, discounts, etc.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to comprehend, analyze, and interpret complex documents and fire prevention systems, drawings and specifications.. Ability to solve problems involving several options in situations.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, and internet.

Ability to learn use of site-specific fire prevention systems and applications.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with thorough understanding of procedures, company policies, and business practices to achieve general results and deadlines. Responsible for setting work unit and/or project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact, including contractual fines or penalties for contractual commitments.
