About the Role:
We are seeking a highly competent and hands-on Senior Engineer / Assistant Technical Manager to support and lead engineering operations with a strong focus on Building MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) systems and ACMV systems.

This role functions as the second-in-command to the Technical Lead with accountability for ensuring system reliability, operational continuity, regulatory compliance, and effective team leadership. The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving high-performance facility operations in a mission-critical environment, ensuring all engineering systems operate safely, efficiently, and in alignment with client expectations.


What You’ll Do:
  • Technical Leadership: Provide in-depth technical leadership across Building General M&E systems, ACMV systems, Fire Protection Systems, LEV systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS), ensuring optimal system performance and reliability.
  • System Reliability & Operations: Take ownership of the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of all critical facility systems, ensuring maximum uptime, system resilience, and adherence to design and operational parameters.
  • Facilities Operations Monitoring: Oversee Facilities Operations Centre activities, ensuring all BMS and Fire System alarms are promptly responded to, investigated, and closed with proper documentation.
  • Preventive Maintenance Governance: Develop, implement, and monitor preventive maintenance programs aligned with OEM, statutory, and contractual requirements. Ensure 100% PPM compliance tracking through CMMS systems.
  • Incident & Emergency Management: Lead and coordinate response to all engineering incidents and emergencies. Ensure timely restoration of systems, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Documentation & Technical Governance: Develop, review, and enforce Technical Playbooks, SOPs, and EOPs. Ensure all maintenance records, compliance documentation, and audit requirements are accurately maintained and readily available.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of shift leads and technicians, ensuring effective manpower deployment, competency development, and high-performance delivery.
  • Vendor & Contractor Management: Ensure all subcontractors are properly inducted, managed, and compliant with site safety and operational requirements. Monitor vendor performance and service delivery standards.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements. Conduct risk assessments and ensure implementation of appropriate control measures.
  • Energy Efficiency & Sustainability: Identify and implement initiatives to improve energy efficiency, optimize system performance, and support sustainability goals.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams and client stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination of engineering operations and high levels of client satisfaction.
  • Site Procedures & Escalation: Ensure full compliance with site escalation protocols, incident reporting processes, and operational governance standards.
  • Ad-Hoc Responsibilities: Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the reporting manager to support overall site operations and continuous improvement initiatives.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Supervises technical teams supporting site operations on a 24/7 basis. 
  • Responsible for workforce planning, shift coverage, and delivery of planned and preventive maintenance activities. Provides technical guidance, coaching, and performance management to team members while fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

What You’ll Need:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Building Operation Engineer, Assistant Technical Manager, or similar leadership role in a critical environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in Building MEP systems, ACMV systems, and Fire Protection Systems.
  • Experience in Health & Safety Risk Assessments and implementation of control measures.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client management skills.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE 

  • Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Facility Management, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of Building Management Systems, LV/MV electrical distribution systems, and associated switchgear and protection equipment.
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience, with supervisory or leadership exposure preferred.
  • Proficiency in CMMS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES 
  • Certification in one or more of the following: electrical, mechanical, HVAC and refrigeration systems, mechanical systems, or building services. Certifications/licenses as may be required by local jurisdictions. 

COMMUNICATION SKILLS 
  • Ability to comprehend, analyse, and interpret complex business and technical documents. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive issues and present technical information clearly to stakeholders, including clients and senior management.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE 
  • Understanding of maintenance budgeting, cost control, and financial planning related to building operations.
  • Ability to support cost optimization initiatives and vendor cost management.

REASONING ABILITY 
  • Ability to solve complex technical problems and make sound decisions under pressure. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to assess risks and implement effective solutions.

OTHER SKILLS and/or ABILITIES 
  • Self-motivated with strong ownership and accountability.
  • Familiarity with relevant safety codes and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in CMMS and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills.
